Post-Doc + Graduate
A post-doctoral position is immediately available in the group of Srinivasan Iyengar at Indiana University, Bloomington Indiana. The areas of study are as follows:
- One opportunity is at the interface of condensed phase quantum dynamics, quantum information and quantum simulation. The prospective candidate may have a strong background in quantum dynamics, electronic structure, computational methods, and will have the opportunity to learn about quantum information, ion-lattice quantum simulators and will assist in the development of new quantum algorithms. The candidate will have the opportunity to actively collaborate with experimental physics groups that develop ion-lattice simulators, computer science groups that deal with logic and semantics and inorganic chemists dealing with the coupled behavior of electrons and nuclei.
- The candidate will have the opportunity to develop new methods for the simultaneous treatment of electrons and nuclei that may then be mapped to potential quantum hardware.
A PhD in theoretical chemistry/chemical physics with a strong computing background is desired. Indiana University also has in place a new “quantum science and engineering center” (IU-QSEc) that contains people from chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering and the business school. This will allow the post-doctoral associated to have opportunities for career development in this important new area.
