Assistant Professor Alexandru B. Georgescu works at the interface of materials chemistry and physics, particularly on quantum materials with novel building blocks – particularly correlated electron and topological materials. His group’s focus is on the interplay of local electronic order on known and new motifs (spin and charge order on d-orbitals, molecular orbitals and lone pairs in inorganic solids, and frustrated geometries) to discover new magnetic, superconducting, and multiferroic materials.
